What is the Climate Intervention Network?

The Climate Intervention Network (CIN) connects early career academics and professionals worldwide to support collaboration on solar geoengineering and climate intervention governance. CIN offers science-based resources, mentorship, and interdisciplinary discussions, building a global community for knowledge sharing and informed engagement.

Why Join CIN?

Young researchers often lack opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary climate intervention discussions. CIN breaks down barriers by providing a dedicated space for networking, mentoring, and collaboration, equipping members (up to the age of 35) to contribute to solar geoengineering governance and justice.

CIN Stories 2: The Interdisciplinary Work within Climate Intervention

Four members of the Climate Intervention Network describe the complex questions they're answering from regions across the globe. Learn more about their work across both the physical and social sciences — journeys that have taken them to the Arctic, music festivals, and more.

CIN Stories: Strengthening Early-Career Collaboration on Climate Intervention

Members of the Climate Intervention Network share their work, their paths toward the field, and why cross-disciplinary collaboration matters. Discover key insights from their October 2025 in-person convening.

Ocean Governance at the Edge of Climate Risk: Lessons from Bermuda

Last summer, the Young Leaders in Ocean Governance Program convened for the first time. This program, founded and run by Ela Gökçiğdem, aims to equip young leaders in coastal communities with the multidisciplinary mindset ocean governance requires. Part of the curriculum, aided by DSG, involved discussion of SRM and its potential impacts on marine biodiversity, coastal livelihoods, and arctic health.

CIN Guidelines

The Climate Intervention Network is convened by DSG, but it is not owned by any one organization. DSG hosts and provides the online space for interaction, handling technical needs, adding interested members to the community, scheduling online events, and facilitating in-person activities for the network, such as early career meet-ups and dedicated conferences.

Participation in CIN doesn’t imply formal affiliation, but it reflects a shared interest and a community of early-career academics and professionals who are interested in learning more and contributing to discussions and research on climate intervention. CIN is a convening tool that brings together this diverse community and offers space for open dialogue, collaboration, and learning. Given the diversity of opinions on the topic, no one individual or group speaks on behalf of CIN, and personal views should not be represented as those of the network.

All members are encouraged to suggest activities, online and in-person, bringing together participants from CIN, as long as they are inclusive and respectful of differing perspectives. Discrimination or exclusionary behavior of any kind will not be tolerated.

Clara Botto, DSG’s Director of Outreach, is the primary point of contact for CIN. Please contact her at clara@sgdeliberation.org for general enquiries and feedback, overseeing technical needs, and addressing any concerns or complaints.

Who Can Join?

CIN is open to early-career professionals, researchers, and students under the age of 35 who are passionate about solar geoengineering and climate governance. Membership is free, and we welcome diverse perspectives from around the world.
